Dr Alan Yap is a Partnerships Officer at the University of Melbourne. He supports the management of the University’s strategic partnerships with industry, government and other public and private sector organisations to grow the impact of these collaborations.
Dr Yap completed a PhD in Medical Biology at the University of Melbourne/WEHI, where he genetically engineered a novel-preclinical model of malaria to study protein function and improve the design of next-generation malaria vaccines. After his PhD, Dr Yap worked as a science communicator and used his knowledge of science to bridge the gap between the scientific community and the public. His passion is to facilitate discussions and build partnerships to accelerate life sciences innovations.
